Our health workforce is vital to the health and wellbeing of Victorians. It provides quality healthcare and positive patient experiences in a range of settings. The Victorian health system currently employs over 260,000 people, with approximately 100,000 employed in our public health system for some or all of their working week.
However, Victorians’ health needs are evolving, with a growing and ageing population and changing expectations. Rapid technological change and economic pressures coupled with significant advances in diagnostics and treatments will result in the health services of the future being vastly different.
