This project improved the clinical learning experiences at Point Lonsdale Medical Group by enhancing the facilities and clinical equipment available for medical and nursing students. Student placements were increased from 66 to 132 benefited from designated rooms which were needed to host the increase in student numbers. -

Increasing capacity and quality of student and clinician learning in the community setting
This project utilised the existing capacity for undergraduate clinical placements to increase potential for nursing students and to facilitate improved post-registration learning for clinicians within St John of God Health Choices through the provision of opportunities to practise clinical skills relevant to the community nursing setting. -

Increasing capacity of clinical placements for entry-level allied health and nursing, midwifery students by exploring clinical placement opportunities outside regular business hours
This project explored the advantages, disadvantages and factors that support the implementation of clinical placement opportunities for nursing, midwifery and allied health students outside of regular business hours (i.e. outside of 9:00am – 5:00pm). The project undertook mapping activities to determine current out-of-hours placement activity in the Northern Metropolitan CPN (now known as NorthWest Metro Workforce Network) and developed a 'how to' tool for organisations wishing to implement an out-of-hours model. Discussion Paper 2: maps out-of-hours clinical service delivery and placement activity for nursing, midwifery and allied health students across the Northern Metropolitan CPN. Also explores current supervision and placement coordination models. -

Increasing capacity through student-led clinics
This project developed and piloted a student-led primary care clinic through which patient-centered care was delivered to aged patients in the Mornington Peninsula CPN (Melbourne South) by mixed-discipline student teams. -

This project installed additional IT resources and purchased mobile clinical equipment and tablets for student use while on community-based placements. -

Increasing student clinical placements in primary care organisations within the Eastern CPN
Proposes to adapt and implement elements of the North West Metropolitan Region Student Placement Project - Phase 2 (NWMRSPP2) to meet the needs of the Eastern CPN with the overall aim of increasing teaching capacity in primary health settings. -

Increasing student exposure to the aged care service system
This project trialled a clinical placement pilot program in the Mornington Peninsula CPN (Melbourne South) that provided student exposure to care opportunities in community-based aged care environments. The project uncovered opportunities for increasing capacity through aged care services and agencies not regularly used by most disciplines and it delivered a package of effective and relevant aged care learning in a model that was valued by students. -

Innovative allied health primary care chronic disease management, health promotion and private practice placements
This project expanded opportunities for allied health clinical placements via new partnerships across primary care, private practice, health promotion and aged care. The project had a particular focus on chronic disease management and inclduded interprofessional learning components. -

Interprofessional learning: Learning together to work together in Melbourne's north
This project assisted organisations with developing their capacity to deliver interprofessional education (IPE) in the Northern Metropolitan CPN (Melbourne North) by training health professionals to deliver IPE programs, piloting IPE approaches, establishing a special interest group and developing and trialling an IPE resource guide. -

Interprofessional orientation for students in paediatrics within the Central Metropolitan CPN
This project developed an online student orientation program for use across all healthcare disciplines attending clinical placements at the Royal Children's Hospital. The project responded to an identified inefficiency within the organisation whereby orientation often repeated across medicine, nursing and allied health disciplines with content, such as organisation and paediatric-specific content, mirrored for each discipline. The project facilitated cross-discipline collaboration to develop and implement a website that has been in use since by students March 2012. -

Introducing clinical placements for undergraduate students in Aboriginal general practice and community settings
This project established a centralised placement coordination model that involved ACCHOs, small rural health services (with integrated aged care and community health services), local pharmacies and a medicare local. Cultural safety materials and manuals were also produced to ensure safe interactions with aboriginal patients and students, including in mainstream health environments. -

Kerang District Hospital capacity building project
This project increased the quality and quantity of accommodation available to students whilst on clinical placement at Kerang District Hospital and also created learning spaces for medical, allied health and nursing students by utilising and refurbishing an exisiting building. -

Merri Community Health Services - Creating a student-friendly hub in Coburg
This project increased the capacity of Merri Community Health Service (MCHS) to take on additional allied health students, ensuring that there were proper services to facilitate and support multidisciplinary placements. -

Moira Health Service IT student support program
Aims to enhance the sustainability of increased clinical placement negotiated through the Hume CPN clinical placement planning (multilateral negotiations) trial by providing IT access to current and potential students in order to support them academically during their placement. -

Moira health services interprofessional clinical placement coordination project
This project increased clinical placement capacity across small rural health services in the Moira Shire of Victoria. Partners worked together to identify barriers and enablers to placement opportunities within their organisations, and then streamlined processes between them by establishing systems to support clinical training. This project was extended under the Clinical Supervision Support Program and resources from this component will be available on this site upon the project's completion.
